The Imagenex Model 881L Gyro Stabilization Unit transforms high‑resolution, multi‑frequency imaging sonar into a system capable of crystal‑clear visualisation from moving platforms, eliminating the blurring normally caused by host‑vehicle rotation. With an advanced low‑drift gyro integrated directly into the sonar head, the unit compensates for vehicle motion in real time, delivering exceptional accuracy, stability and robustness even in highly dynamic subsea conditions.

This enhanced stabilisation does not compromise sonar performance. Using Ethernet communications, the system can still exceed 100 shots per second at short range with up to 2 mm range resolution, and it automatically adjusts acoustic frequency and resolution to scan a full 360° surrounding area out to a 200 m radius. The result is a highly capable imaging solution suited to a wide range of operational environments.

Its compact size, low power consumption and straightforward setup make the 881L an effective choice for ROV, AUV and UUV platforms, as well as manned submersibles operating in demanding inspection or survey scenarios. The unit performs equally well in search and recovery operations, borehole and cave work, and drop‑sonar deployments for scientific research, where stable, high‑clarity imaging is essential. With only a laptop, power supply and the included Imagenex software, it also functions as a simple and efficient standalone inspection package
