The next‑generation EdgeTech 4205 is a highly versatile side‑scan sonar system designed for survey operations ranging from shallow coastal work to deep‑water missions. Available for rental through GoSubsea, the 4205 is built on EdgeTech’s Full Spectrum® CHIRP technology, delivering crisp, high‑resolution imagery at ranges up to 50% greater than non‑CHIRP systems. This extended coverage allows operators to survey larger areas more efficiently and reduce overall project costs.
Beyond the high‑quality imagery EdgeTech is known for, the 4205 introduces several new features that enhance flexibility and performance in offshore environments. The system can be supplied in either a tri‑frequency configuration or a motion‑tolerant, multi‑pulse configuration. The tri‑frequency option enables surveyors to operate any two frequencies simultaneously, offering excellent adaptability across varying seabed conditions. The motion‑tolerant, multi‑pulse version supports higher survey speeds and operation in rougher weather while still maintaining high‑quality imagery. For missions requiring even finer detail, it can also be run in a single‑pulse high‑resolution mode to achieve a more precise view of the seafloor.
With its combination of range, resolution, and operational flexibility, the 4205 is well suited for cable and pipeline surveys, geological, geophysical, and archaeological investigations, mine countermeasures (MCM), geohazard and channel clearance work, as well as search and recovery operations where reliable, high‑clarity imaging is essential.
